I don't remember much about them but i think they are both canon pieces in one Midoriko's spirit basically tells Kagome she needs to find a teacher so she can learn to fight with a katana and she finds Sesshomaru. In the other Kagome is actually a reincarnation of Sesshomaru's dead mate and Kikyo and Kagomes souls are fighting for control of the body.
