When I write, I usually have this particular playlist saved of songs that help me write that particular story.

For my story Heartbeats, I have... like a bajillions songs in my playlist for it, but here are the first few that usually play (beware. romance-y songs!):

"Where's My Love?" by Caroline
"Promise of a Lifetime" by Kutless
"Love Remains The Same" by Gavin Rossdale
"Never Say Never" by The Fray
"Love Will Make You Beautiful" by The Afters
"I'll Find a Way" by Rachael Yamagata
"Like A Star" by Corinne Bailey Rae
"Hands to Heaven" Christian Bautista
"Come Away With Me" by Norah Jones

Do you guys have any particular list of songs when you write a story? I'm just curious... and it's a great way to share good songs! :3

Unless I'm going for a certain feeling, I don't listen to music when I write. I go through my moods of depressing music, and half of the time it ends up reflecting in the story (even if it's not supposed to be a dark, depressing thing). More often than not I just listen to the news on TV, or the kids doing their thing in the background.

I've got a particular list of songs I listen to now when I'm writing, but it makes no sense whatsoever, as far as setting a mood. It works for me anyway!

'Feeling of Falling' by Bonnie Raitt
'Beyond Here Lies Nothing by Bob Dylan
'Sway' by Dean Martin
'The Devil Went Down To Georgia' by The Charlie Daniels Band
'Soulful Garage' by Southern Culture on the Skids
'Supernova Goes Pop' by Powerman 5000
'Goo Goo Dolls' by Iris
'The Good Life' by Sammy Davis Jr. (his version is SO much better than Tony Bennett's)
'We Are One' by Kelly Sweet
'Boys Wanna Be Her' by Peaches
'Up Jumps Da Boogie' by Aaliyah/Timbaland/Missy Elliot

That's a few of them. I think I have ADHD when it comes to my music lists.

I also have a 'writing' playlist on my itunes. As much as I would love all my music to play while I write it's just not possible, because I'm a big fan of what I call music crack, which means songs that aren't the best lyric wise, but want to make me get up and dance such as Britney Spears and Flo Rida. Though I love the visual of Sesshoumaru dancing to apple bottom jeans and the boots with the fur.

Anyway here are some of the songs that show up on my music playlist.

Sounds of Silence - Simon and Garfunkel
Lies - Evanesence
Moondance- Nightwish
Scars - Papa Roach
Dead and Gone - T.I. feat. Justin Timberlake
Confide in me - Antgoria
Untouched - The Veronicas
Breathe Me - Sia
Head like a Hole- Nine Inch Nails
Got the Life- Korn

It depends on what I'm writing and what kind of mood I'm in at the time. But generally I listen to music or watch cartoons or I Love Lucy. They can be good distractions when I'm focusing too hard on what I'm writing but I hit a road block. >.<
