Yesterday she died.
Her darkest hour yet...and her last.
And today...today was bathed in white warmth and calm gentleness. Today was blinding and she was moving at the speed of light in hopes of catching an eternity in her cold cold hands.
"When you feel the wind shift...when you hear it sigh...pretend that it's me."
"But you're not really there."
Yesterday goodbye died on her lips.
Her last breath left her, snatched away by sharp beautiful things and the spreading, endless carmine.
And today...today was blue above and wispy white below. Today was floating and she was no longer falling.
"I'll meet you on the other side, just over the bridge."
"You'll wait for me?"
Yesterday she closed her eyes and let herself go.
Her most freeing moment in all her time spent here.
And today...today was her way out, her escape from the chains and all those stifling, suffocating bonds of who she was. Today was growing white wings and taking her away.
"Make a wish."
"It won't come true. I already know."
Yesterday the world flickered and faded.
Her last glimpse, blurry and crumbling around the edges as everything became a little darker and a little more numb. A little less painful.
And today...today she couldn't remember all the faces, only the feelings. Today was shimmering and she was lost among the soft illumination.
"I don't want you to leave."
"Close your eyes then so you don't have to see me go."
Yesterday was just a crying memory.
And today was already gone.
She was already gone with infinity all around her and a bridge to cross.
And tomorrow...tomorrow would never come. Tomorrow was buried in shadow and tears and choked farewells.
"When you're ready...just open your eyes and I'll be there."
