The Oni Miko
Picture information
Description:
I started this picture *checks date-stamp* - yikes - over two years ago and I was typically overly ambitious and stalled out on it.
It was inspired by the thought that surely some of the adventures of Kagome, Inuyasha, etal. would have survived in folklore, and that made me think of which elements might have made it into the stories (for example, it might have been mentioned that the miko dressed oddly, but the specifics of what that meant would have been lost). Surely the initial battle in the belly of the inutaisho would have made for great folktale material.
Heavily influenced by Yoshitoshi's woodblocks.
Also a disclaimer/apology - I speak about three words of Japanese, the translation is courtesy googletranslate and is, I'm sure, not very good. It's really just there for the aesthetic, but apologies all the same for any unintentional linguistic butchery.
