Gazes locked, each try to intimidate the other, "your move," she said. He raised his eyebrow in response. Sesshomaru kept his eyes locked on Kagome, waiting for her to give herself away. Kagome's face remained impassive. Sesshomaru boldly reached over a snatched a card out of the miko's hand.

A smirk crossed his lips, he laid down a pair. Eyebrow raised again, he mocked Kagome by throwing her own words back in her face. "Your move." Kagome did not even hesitate; she reached over and yanked a card from his hand. A smile graced her lips, she laid down her match.

Sesshomaru initiated the stare down once more, trying to determine which card in Kagome's hand was the one he wanted to avoid at all costs. In response Kagome fanned her cards out even more. His glare darkened in response. She flashed him a cheeky grin and told him to hurry up.

Sesshomaru grabbed another card and laid down his match. This continued until there where only five cards left. Kagome with three cards and Sesshomaru with two, his move. Still trying to use the force of his stare to make her lose her poker face, he took a card from her hand.

Kagome shot him a smug smile. Sesshomaru glared down at the card now in his hand. Kagome reached over, hesitated for the briefest of seconds and grabbed a card from Sesshomaru's hand. She laid down a match.

Sesshomaru took the finale card from Kagome's hand, leaving him with the old maid.

"Ha! I won," Kagome shouted gleefully, "You are the old maid Sesshomaru!"

"This Sesshomaru is no old maid."

"You lost Sesshomaru, you've got the old maid in your-gah!"

Kagome's words were strangled in her throat, as she watched the old maid card dissolve in a cloud of acid, in Sesshomauru's hand.

"You just melted my card, you jerk!"

"What card?"

End

This is just a story I came up with babysitting one day. Obviously we were playing old maid!
