Day 8 Dec 21st: Gift wrap

Sesshomaru insists on wrapping their granddaugther's birthday gifts himself and, since he is so determined, Kagome holds her tongue even when his claws shred as much of the wrapping paper as he manages to tape down. 

"Humans make things endlessly complicated," he complains like the old man he claims to feel like. "Why must you insist on wrapping every little thing in such flimsy paper?"

"Because it's cute." Kagome hands him a cup of freshly brewed tea. "Besides, think of how happy Megumi will be when she sees all of her presents are wrapped up in penguin wrapping paper. You know that's her favorite thing right now."

Sesshomaru snorts. "She would prefer the gifts over the paper." Still, despite his complaints, he doesn't stop attempting to wrap the presents for their youngest grandchild. 

"It's the process that's half the fun." Kagome kisses his cheek for a moment, biting back a laugh when he jolts in surprise and tears right through the paper.

"You did that on purpose," he accuses, glowering at her as he proceeds to remove the ruined wrapping paper. 

"You'll get it right this time." She manages to bite back the laugh, but only just.

"I can hear you," he says without looking up at her. "Go away, woman. You are a distraction I do not require."

Just for that, Kagome kisses him again right as he's about to tape down a large piece—and this time, she doesn't hide her laughter as he tears right through the wrapping paper. He's now covered in wrapping paper as various pieces fly off and around him, looking like little bits of ribbon.

"Do not laugh." He glares at Kagome, who doesn't even try to comply.

"You're adorable," she says, kissing him again as he huffs loudly, grumbling about humans and their foolish need for flimsy paper.

Kagome is not the least bit surprised when Sesshomaru insists on gift bags for all future holidays and events.
