Catty by thetroll
Chapter 1
Kagome gapes as Sesshomaru calmly brings in package after package from the front door.
What on earth had her mate gotten this time?
She stops short when she reads the label on all the boxes: Chewy. "Sesshomaru," she begins, folding her arms across her chest. "I thought we talked about this."
He sniffs, undaunted, as he brings in yet another box. "Onigiri and Mochi deserve it."
Kagome sighs. For an inuyokai, he's oddly prone to spoiling their two house cats that he'd been absolutely positively certain he did not want when they'd first adopted them. "Sesshomaru—"
"Do not worry," he informs the cats who greet him as he sets down another box. He stops for a moment to pat each of them on the head before retrieving the last box. "I will not allow the miko to treat you so deplorably."
Her mouth falls open. "Deplorably?" She lifts her chin. "You're the one who insists on feeding them sushi-grade fish!"
"Farm grade is not as nutritionally rich." He doesn’t even pause as he begins opening the boxes. "The fat content is too high for felines in such specimens." He pauses to scratch Onigiri behind the ears. "They deserve only the best."
"Don't you think this is a bit overkill?" She tries to reason with him, but it's a futile effort.
He quirks a brow. "And who spent over seventy thousand yen on the large cat tree in the living room?"
Her mouth snaps shut as she recalls the cat tree in question. "It's not just a cat tree," she's quick to insist, though she wonders why she bothers. "It's a work of art—"
"It was for Mochi and Onigiri," he replies with a maddening smile. "Therefore, mate, you are in no position to censor my own purchases."
She groans as he opens a box full of new cat toys, including a ball track toy. "You have an online shopping problem," she mutters, deciding there's some battles there's no point in winning as he continues to ignore her. If Sesshomaru wants to spoil their cats, who is she to fight with him?
She does, however, record him showing the cats each of their purchases before sending it to their grown children. None of them believed how much their father gushes over the cats, but that's sure to change now.
She later wishes they'd stop calling Sesshomaru the 'cat-dad whisperer.' It just goes right to his head.
