Not a sound disturbed him within their quiet room, and yet Sesshoumaru found himself waking in the dead of night. Glancing at Kagome beside him revealed her sleeping face, dark tumbling hair tossed about their pillows. With a faint smirk and passing graze of claws through her bangs, the Daiyoukai rose, adjusting his striped sleeping yukata.
Moving to one of the sliding doors, he pushed it open, immediately greeted with a gentle breeze. Salt reached his nose, coupled with quiet cresting waves in the distance. Still somewhat drenched in the comfortable fog of sleep, Sesshoumaru stepped out onto the dark wood of his porch, allowing his clothing to gape wide about broad shoulders. Silver hair tickled the bare skin of his back but he paid it no mind, tossing etiquette aside and stepping out into the gardens with bare, claw tripped feet.
A crescent moon hung within a pitch black sky, overlooking the ocean and Sesshoumaru’s lodgings, highlighting everything in hushed, soft light.
Looking out at the calming scenery, his lungs expanded, taking a long breath. He then reached into his sleeve and withdrew a kiseru pipe, lighting it and taking a languid drag.
He dwelled on many things, standing there alone. Much had changed over the past few years- a short amount of time for one so timeless.
His teeth closed around the tip of his pipe, golden eyes remaining locked on the dark horizon when light footsteps cushioned with slippers crunched over the grass.
Sesshoumaru’s skin automatically pricked, his back- marked with stripes that Kagome had been delighted to discover- thrummed, awaiting her touch.
She never left him wanting. Tender palms brushed the cotton of his yukata, before soft hair met his exposed back. Kagome rested her forehead against him, arms wrapping around his middle from behind.
“Mnn...why are you up?” she mumbled. “Come back to bed.”
Sesshoumaru made a hum of acknowledgement, making no move to leave his spot amidst the darkened scenery just yet.
His spine was marked with twin inverted ‘v’ shaped magenta stripes- and it was there that Kagome found her mark, kissing both. He jolted and growled lowly.
The miko played dirty.
He felt the shape of her smile against his skin. “Penny for your thoughts?” she murmured, running loving hands over his firm chest, drifting down over a defined abdomen before returning to their original spot upon a well-muscled back.
“I am not thinking about anything particularly deep nor intriguing,” dusty amusement tinged his voice.
Kagome collected the fall of his silver hair- minding it aside to drape over his shoulder. “That doesn’t matter. I’d still like to know.”
The escaping smoke from Sesshoumaru’s exhale shook when she began peppering ardent kisses up his spine- committing to lavishing attention over the nape of his neck. A low rumble from within his chest betrayed his enjoyment.
She reached up for the collar of his gaping yukata and encouraged it to fall lower, catching around his elbows, baring a pale back and chest. Her skilful archer hands continued exploring, mapping the expanse of his flesh as though committing it to memory.
Sesshoumaru lowered the pipe from his lips, snowy lashes drifting into a half lidded state. The touches and her continued kisses only heightened the sensation resounding through his chest.
“You truly wish to know?” he uttered.
Kagome wrapped her arms around him again, plastering herself against his back and nodding there. “Of course.”
“I was just thinking…” Sesshoumaru turned slowly, finding her upturned face watchful and keen. Always so open to listening and loving, offering advice or thoughts. Golden eyes smiled, and he tipped himself down to brush a reverent kiss over the dark sweep of her brow.
“About how happy I am, miko. That is all,” he tangled his claws within curling dark hair, enjoying the way it twined around his fingers. “It is worthy of contemplation, considering I never imagined I’d marry for love.”
Kagome blinked, slowly grinning. She snuck in a quick kiss against his nose, stroking the plains of his warm back.
“I’d be worried if you weren’t happy during our Honeymoon- but I get it. For the longest time, you anticipated an arranged marriage, right? I won’t apologize for throwing a wrench in your plans.”
“I am pleased you disrupted my life, chaotic little woman,” he rumbled, guiding her chin to tilt up, slanting his mouth over hers. He never tired of kissing her. “It has led to...deep contentment within the space of a short amount of time.”
Kagome smiled. “And now you’re mine.”
“Do not get so cocky- you are mine, also.”
Kagome giggled playfully and guided him back towards their room, running her hands over his arms and leaning up to plant a hard open mouthed kiss over the mating mark branding his skin- eliciting a heated gasp and flash of sharp canines. “Mnn...I dunno about that. You’ll have to prove it to me~”
Sesshoumaru growled lowly, snuffing out his long forgotten pipe and smirking as she squealed, worming out of his tightening grip to flounce back to the porch, a lively sparkle in her eyes.
The Daiyoukai took a moment to appreciate it- how her bedhead swayed, clothes rumpled, body littered with evidence of their lovemaking. Tenderness warmed his dark heart, and the warlord advanced to go lovingly claim his bride anew.
