How God Created Mother

God took the fragrance of a flower,
The majesty of a tree,

Then God fashioned from these things

This fic is amazing. The author's use of dark/light imagery to convey Kagome's torment is beautiful. Kagome recounts her horrific ordeal while recuperating in a cave, which the dark imagery here emphasizes the state of her mind. She is also very exposed, literally and figuratively, to Sesshoumaru, who is affected by how raw her anguish is. Sesshoumaru plays the mysterious protector here, in that he not only helps her recover physically, but also mentally, by offering her comfort and reasurances. Sesshoumaru, himself, as well as their surroundings give way to lighter imagery, which shows to demonstrate the glimmer of hope that Kagome feels due to Sesshoumaru's actions.
