Seriously? She starved herself to the point where her musculature gained through hardwork has deteriorated so much that she can't even straighten clothing properly and is basically described as skin and bones? Gaunt with bones jutting out? Because Sesshoumaru left her without explanation for three weeks? I'm sorry to offend you, as this story used to be a favorite of mine and I'm undoubtedly going to sound caustic in what follows, but this portrayal of Kagome comes across selfish (which is usually never a word I would associate with her character), psychologically unstable (her psyche balances on egg shells made of thin ice), and immature. Sure, she seems motherly and caring, but she goes catatonic and suicidal (in terms of upkeeping her health) when Sesshoumaru leaves, thinking little or not at all of those who are worried for her in Sango and Miroku's community, and others who care deeply for her (e.g. her son). If she's going to feel that depressed because she feels she annoyed and inconvenienced Sesshoumaru into leaving her, then shouldn't she care more about leaving her corpse/death for him ( and the others) to deal with? Further, I've yet to see any character development 600+ drabbles in, at least in Kagome. Her mental state is apparently just as detrimentally fragile as insinuated earlier on. Not to mention she hasn't markedly progressed in any other area, though her beauty, skills, and intelligence are apparently all of great interest to the equally amazing Sesshoumaru. I'm just so frustrated with how Damsel-in-Distress-ish you've made Kagome...I am sorry if I got a bit overheated during this rant, though. I did truly have this on my favorites, and wanted to give it a re-read to enjoy it once more. Unfortunately, my taste has changed too much. Your writing is still very good, though!

Oh dear. The debilitated protagonist thinks she's hallucinating when she sees the inhuman love interest after he leaves her alone for a while? Mrghh - the comparisons just won't stop.

...Now I can't stop comparing to my aforementioned middle school literary obsession (for shame). Cue the facepalms. My eyes keep gravitating to every adjective that describes Sesshomaru's physique, and every phrase that piteously depicts the delicate heroine. Goodness. Excuse me while I try to claw the remnants of Meyers' series out of my brain.

This part somewhat reminds me of Bella's insipid depression in the Twilight books, though this is definitely less ridiculous. But yeah - vaguely reminiscient.

I've enjoyed re-reading this so far, especially since it's my first SessKag after about a year away from them, but the repeated use of the Damsel in Distress trope has me wanting to bang my head against hard surfaces. Just - why? I guess I could ignore it when I first read this a few years ago, and I can still ignore some of the misogynistic bits here and there (unintentional, I'm sure) but now...asdfghjkl. So frustrating and disappointing. :(

This is my second time reading through this story. And I love it just as much as the first time. I love the relationship that Kagome and Sesshomaru have. It's dynamic is perfect for their personalities and so very in character. I also love the pace. it is so well paced out. It's a great story and I can't wait to read more soon!
