New State? New School?
Sitting on her bed, Kagome glanced at her calender. It was August the twenty-sixth. Why must she have to go to a new school in the morning? All she wanted to do was go back to Tokyo and stay there. But no. Her mother got this new gig from an old friend and decided to move to Texas. Now she had to go to a new school.
Kagome sat on her freshly made bed and looked around. Her room was long enough to be two. Actually, when the house was first made, her room was two rooms. She could tell by the jagged line in the middle of it.
Her and her mother decorated the room. Her walls are pink, which took too damn long to paint, and her furniture was the same. She has a big bean bag and a very comfortable chair. Her television is pink and so is her lap top. She loves her room. Her last room was kind of small so all her stuff couldn't fit into there. She had to put everything in the garage.
"Kagome, dinner is ready!" her mother yelled up the stairs to her. Kagome sighed. Walking toward the top of the stair case, she said "Coming, Mom."
She ran down the stairs and sat in her seat next to Souta and her grandfather. Souta was already digging in his food like a pig. This is the reason I don't bring friends over for dinner, she sighed. She looked at her plate and started eating. She loved when her mom made spaghetti. Those noodles always made her troubles go away.
Her mom said, "Kagome, make sure you set your alarm clock for school in the morning."
"Yes, mom, I will." Kagome said while finishing the rest of her noodles and sipping her soda. She always loved that grape Fanta. When she finished, she washed everyones dish and started for the stairs. Before she went up, she heard her mother say "Good night, dear and please wake Souta up for school."
She yelled "Okay, mom." She knew how her little brother could sleep. Hell, he's twelve years old and act like he can't wake up his damn self. Kagome headed to her room and closed the door. She noticed how dark it was so she turned her light on and located her painting set. Her mother bought her a set that you put on the wall and plug up.
Kagome plugged it and turned her lights off. She looked at the blue hue that marveled the whole room. On the painting was a water fall. Special effects made it seem as though the water was flowing as a real one. Soft sounds coming from it made Kagome relax. It sounded as if she was there in that forest, as she listens to the water swish in a melodic song.
Kagome was knocked out of her daze when she heard a noise. She went to answer her door and said "Yes, grandpa?"
She knew what he was going to say. He wants her to take some sutras he made and keep them under her pillow.
"Kagome, take these sutras. They will help you through the night in case the demons come after ya." What did she tell you? He always had this notion that demons were around and after the family. Well, she knew they were around. Hell, they may be at her new school in the morning. Kagome nodded her head and said a quick 'Thanks, grandpa. Good night' and closed her door. She placed the little papers on her night stand and undressed. Her arms was kind of sore because of the boxes she had to carry. She really needed a massage. She put on her froggy pajamas and a white women-beater. She never knew why it was called that but didn't care, either way. Obviousy the shirt didn't hold any special powers to aid in fighting women. She chuckled to herself. Yep, she was tired. She always ramble when she's sleepy.
She set her alarm clock to six and got on her knees. She placed her hands together and tilted her head down. She began to pray.
"Dear Kami, please let my first day of school be great. You know that I never been to a public school in another country. Thank you for always being there and for my mother having a new job. Please help me be the best I can. In the name of the gods, Amen."
Kagome lie in her bed and stared at the ceiling. She hope people at this school were nice and the demons... She hope they were, too. Especially them.
Kagome fell asleep.
************
Urmp! Urmp! Urmp! Urmp!
Kagome tossed and turned. She heard her alarm clock, alright. She just didn't want to get up. Placing her pillow onto her head, she held the edges over her delicate ears. That noise was so annoying.
"Five more minutes," she muttered to no one. She always had a knack for talking to herself. The alarm clock continued it's cry as it felt, to Kagome, the noise was getting louder. But she wasn't going crazy, right? She tried to dig her pillow in her eardrums, imagining them closing to the outside noise. But to no avail. She heard a slight giggle and roze immediately.
Blinking rapidly because of the light, Kagome sat up and rubbed her eyes. Coming into focus, she noticed her brother smirking as he placed her now silent clock on the night stand. Why, the twerp, she inwardly shouted as she jumped up and tackled her little brother. They wrestled on her bed for a bit, Souta laughing and Kagome growling. She really wanted to shed blood for waking her in such a horrid matter. She almost got him good until he slipped from beneath her fingers, jumped off the bed and threw her pillow on the ground. She started after him but tripped on her pillow, causing her to fall foreward and smash head first into her now closed door. Shutting her eyes, she mentally cursed as she slowly got up, holding her head with one hand while balancing on the other. She imagined a check list of people to personally hurt in her head. Souta was the only one so far. She shook her head, glancing at the clock and sighed. She only had thirty minutes to get ready. Did she really tussle with her brother for damn near half that? Wow, she needed a life.
She decided to wear a pink shirt with Grey letters that say 'Every guys dream.' Her school didn't require uniforms, thank goodness. She thought she'd never get to see other colors besides, green and white. Those where her uniforms colors when she lived in Tokyo. Not that she didn't like her uniform, it was just she couldn't express herself differently with everyone dressed alike.
Kagome put on some tight-fitting blue jeans and pink and Grey shoes. She located her full-length mirror and went to it, grabbing a brush on the way. She brushed her long, black and wavy, hair down and placed a pink head band around it. Kagome placed little make up on.
She didn't like make up that much. The main thing she liked was the eye shadow and the mascara. She liked how long her lashes could get from her everlasting black mascara. She loved when people asked her if they were fake. That meant that they were beautiful.
Kagome grabbed her back pack full of supplies and headed for the door. The bus was going to be there in a few minutes and she had to hurry. Her mom saw her and handed her a sack. It was the breakfast that she couldn't eat at the moment. She gave her mom and grandpa a kiss and headed out. She noticed her brother was already at the bus stop and caught up with him.
All the buses from Elementary, Middle, and High school, went to that stop. Souta was barely in Middle School.
Kagome saw a bus and looked at the number on the side. It was hers.
She glanced through the windows to make out the faces that stared at her and a few others. She gulped. That bus seemed packed to the capacity and that made her stomach churn. She was afraid. Clutching her pack close, she waited for the doors to open.
A man in a suit greeted her and asked that she take a seat. Kagome walked up the stairs and looked around. She suppressed a gasp. There where demons on there. Either that or some of them where wearing red contacts. Grandpa would have a field day,she thought. Kagome didn't see any seats available until she looked in the back. There was this guy with a expressionless face, sitting alone.
Kagome held her breath as she walked through the cramped isle. Her heart was thumping against her chest as she heard whispers. She knew it was of her. The guy was looking at her as she sat down. She placed her pack on her lap and stared at it. The guy was burning a whole in the side of her head, and she felt very uncomfortable. This day cannot get any worse, could it, she questioned herself. She tried her best to ignore him.
--------------------
Sesshoumaru Taisho was the most popular guy in Duncanville High School. All the girls wanted him. Only because he's sexy, rich, and intelligent. He hated when they wanted him for his looks and fame. Hell, what was he talking about? He only went with the girls just to have sex. He wasn't sex crazy like his younger brother, InuYasha, so he wasn't a dog in heat. He was just very selected in his choosings.
Sitting on the bus, he stared at the human beside him. He wondered what made her think that she could sit next to him, Sesshoumaru, demon lord heir of the Western Lands? When his father dies, however long that's going to be, he will rule that land. He couldn't wait for that day. Yes, he respected his father, though to err is human. He never understood why his father would take a human as his mate, creating the abomination called InuYasha. But Sesshomaru could not question his father's decisions, for he was the Great Lord InuTaisho, far more powerful than he is...right now. Thinking about that was unneccessary so Sesshomaru decided to focus on the bold little human beside him.
He sniffed and smirked in amusement. So the girl next to him was a miko. He could tell by the slight aura surrounding her. Though, he had a feeling she did not know of her power because he barely detected it, himself. Well, she must be new. He glanced behind himself to look at his friends.
Kouga, a wolf demon, was grinning from ear to ear. Naraku, a mixture of different kinds of demons, was smirking and staring at the back of the girls head. Rin, a human and play sister, was giving him the thumbs up. He never stated he "hated" humans, though he didn't care for them. Rin rubbed off on him from the very beginning. He didn't know when he started caring for her, he only knew she was different. He didn't like her sexually, or anything; he just trusted her more than anyone as a friend. The other two demons were his friends by honor; they were both of high stature like himself. He inwardly rolled his eyes. Sesshoumaru turned his attention back to the miko. She was being quiet. Most women would jump on him with their bodies from the mere sight of him.
He didn't know whether to be happy or mad that the miko didn't acknowledge him. He frowned. How dare she? Before he reached his hand up to touch her, he saw her gaze land on his. Her brown eyes. Those chocolate orbs made him lose focus. Wait. What was wrong with him? She's suppose to lose focus, not he, Sesshoumaru. He inwardly shook his head and played the staring contest with her.
Then he sensed her confusion. What was she confused about? That was not an expression he could identify. She answered his question.
"Are those real?" she said. He found her voice to be...cute. So soft and polite. He was so dazed by her question that he didn't see her touch his face. He tensed. She brushed her fingers on his markings and he inwardly melt. Her soft little fingers felt like silk running over his skin. So smooth and velvet-like. He never allowed anyone to touch his person, let alone his face. Even in a rut session, he always required the women to be tied or griping their clothes. He wasn't the touchy feely type. Why he couldn't remove her fingers away, he couldn't say.
He suddenly heard his friends laugh. That brought him out of his high. He frowned immediately. How could he let that happen? How long was she touching him? He grabbed the girls' hand and pulled it away. He glared at the now angry human.
"I advise you to keep your hand off my person, human." he spat the last part out. She gave him the same glare.
"Well next time, answer me, Demon!"
What gives this lowly, pathetic human the right to speak badly of his species? Surely she knows humans do not have the abilities of demons. They live longer and are stronger. Humans lifespans are as small as ants, compared to a demons.
Sesshoumaru started to say something. He didn't have time cause the bus stopped. He never understood why his father didn't get an escort to take him to school, though he never asked. He kept silent.
Everyone got off the bus one by one.
The miko got up and held her pack closely. He watched as she started for the isle and placed a firm hand on her shoulder.
She turned toward him and he bit out, "Watch it, girl. You should not speak of this Sesshoumaru in such ways. Know your place, wench."
His friends started laughing in the background and he placed a slight smirk on his features. He loved attention.
But it vanished because of the look she gave him. She looked sad and he smelled it. He didn't know why that bothered him, cause he's use to making females cry and laughing about it. He's played so many games on women that he should get paid for them.
She looked at him from over her shoulder and kept walking. She didn't give him a glance as she stepped off the bus.
He started walking off the bus. His friends caught up with him and started with their statements.
"Man, Sesshoumaru you really made that babe sad," Kouga laughed out as he high fived Naraku. Apparantley, the two thought the same thing. Idiots, Sesshomaru thought to himselfas he started off the bus.
"Yeah-she looked like she was about to cry," Naraku bellowed loud enough for said girl to hear. Sesshoumaru looked ahead and saw the sad glint in her eye. He knew she was the new girl of Duncanville High School. He felt kind of bad for talking to her like that. She did, after all, ask about his heritage. His friends saw how he was staring at the girl without a word.
Rin said "Don't tell me that you're taking a liking to this girl, Sessh." She knicknamed him that, which he didn't mind.
Sesshoumaru glared at her while Kouga and Naraku smirked.
"Rin, surely you do not think one such as I, have emotional sates for anyone. Nonetheless, a human." he iced out. In truth, he felt bad for the miko. That never happened to him. He decided to ignore these foreign feelings developing within him.
Rin looked at him and shrugged. She walked in the building with Kouga.
Naraku was grinning at him and then laughed.
"Well, I'll text you in class, heartless demon." he said and walked away.
Sesshoumaru frowned. He's been known as a heartless demon but he did have a heart. He's a natural born heart breaker, yes. But could you blame him? Having girls jump on him for the fame, glory and his good looks, would make you break a couple hearts. He can't lie though. Most females wanted him and fell in love with him. He broke their heart. He never understood why females would fall for him, being the heartless one and all.
Sesshoumaru shook his head and went to class. He will apologize to her later. He stopped in his tracks. Apologize? Now that's a word he doesn't use often. He surmised it was his inner beast playing mind tricks on him. He sighed. He never spoke to himself so much before.
He walked through the halls.
--------------
Why that arrogant,no good...ooooohh, Kagome pondered as she stomped toward the Attendance Office. How could he be so mean to her? She didn't do anything! All she did was ask about the markings on his face. All he had to do was answer her. But, no. He had to make his friends laugh and call her names. Well excuse her, his highness!
Kagome walked madly in the halls and looked at every door.
She found the office and stormed in. There was a lady behind a desk with out-of-style glasses from the 70s and red ruby lipstick on. Her wig was out-of-date and she was wrinkly. Go figure, Kagome inwardly spat. The lady looked up from her glasses and asked "Yes. How may I help you?"
"Yes. Could you please give me my schedule? I'm new here," Kagome said with politeness. Just because she's mad doesn't mean she'd take it out on the lady. She inwardly counted to ten, hoping to calm down. It actually worked.
"Name." The lady said. She looked down at her computer and clicked through things Kagome couldn't see in front of the desk. Well, isn't she cheerful, Kagome pondered sarcastically. The lady clearly didn't want to be there as much as she.
"Higu-Kagome Higurashi,"she said. She forgot the fact that sometimes in Texas, they start with their first name.
Kagome received her schedule and walked out. She went through the busy halls yet again and looked around. She was amazed at all the colors of the race. There where African Americans, Caucasians and even Indian people all around. So diverse! She loved it.
Kagome bumped into someone and fell on her ass. She looked up to see a big chubby girl with wild hair and a nasty snarl on her face. The mug upon her pudgy features let Kagome know she was no good company.
"Bitch, stay out my way!" She said and proceeded on her trek through th hall. Kagome looked around to see everyone laughing at her and she wasn't going to take this shit. She already started with a bad day without even the chance to introduce herself. She wasn't about to let people continue to fuck with her. She got off the floor and turned around toward the girl. She tapped her left shoulder and waited for her to turn around.
Right when the girl's cheek caught her view, Kagome punched her there. The fat girl fell to the floor and started sobbing.
"Yeah, bitch! You ain't big now, huh? Get on somewhere before I beat your fat ass." Right when the words left her mouth, she saw a tall man with a frown on his face.
"Young lady, such words are forbidden in this school. Come with me." He started to walk.
"B-but I-i d-" She started but was cut off.
"No buts, young lady. Come." he stated.
She looked down at her feet and walked behind him. She looked to the side and saw the guy that insulted her o the bus. He must be laughing right now she thought. But that wasn't the case. He did have a smirk on his face, but his eyes told a different story. She never knew she could read eyes, the windows to the soul, so well. She saw a glint of sadness in them.
It left just as it came so she couldn't confirm. She looked down again and started for the I.S.S room. She never been in 'In School Suspension'. She kept walking on and sat in the room. She was by herself, considering that breakfast time hasn't ended, telling her it's time for school.
When the bell rang, she sighed. It's her first day and she couldn't go to class. She looked at the doorway and saw people come in. At least i'm not the only one. She looked as a girl came in with a feather in her head. What a style, she thought sarcastically as she onlooked her a bit more. The girl had red everywhere on her frame. Kagome thought she was blood itself. The girl had red eyes, lips, eyeshadow, clothes, claws-
Wait! Red Eyes? Claws? Kagome thought. Must be another demon. Kagome started to think that Texas was made of on demon species, damn near.
The girl sat at the very front with another girl. The one next to her had fur all over her body. It was white and seemed to cling to her . Kagome saw her face and the green eyes on it. She's pretty.
Kagome wasn't gay, or anything, but she wouldn't lie about someone. She would keep the thoughts to herself though.
" Say, Sesshoumaru, sit with us," said the girl with the red everything on.
Kagome looked at the direction of their gaze and gasped. So his name is Sesshomaru. Interesting. Said Sesshoumaru walked in and glared at the girls in front. He iced "Why would I lower myself to sit with you, Kagura?"
Kagome glanced at, now known as Kagura, and pondered. Kagura wasn't really tht bad-looking, though she did seem to over accessorize...
She felt eyes on her and looked up to see Sesshoumaru staring at her, only a few inches away.
"Fine!" Kagura said. Kagome saw Sesshoumaru sit next to her in the back of the class.
Kagura and her friend started talking amongst themselves like everyone else in the room.
Kagome didn't say anything. No. She want him to start first if he wants to talk. She turned away from him and placed her pack on the desk. She took out her spiral note book and a glitter pen. She started writing.
------------
Sesshoumaru was so amazed that this little miko had a fierce side. He saw how she punched the fat girl name Sida. He never liked the bitch. She always bumped into people on purpose so she could make people laugh. But Sida got what was coming to her when the miko punched her.
Sesshoumaru smirked at the scene. He stopped when he saw how sad the miko was, especially when she stared at him. He knew where she was going.
Sesshoumaru saw a guy named Kohaku walking through the halls. He went to him and shoved the human boy to the ground. He was just in time to sense a teacher coming and decided to say a few words.
"Filthy human. Stay out of my way." he iced out.
The teacher came and said "Mister Taisho. To I.S.S now!"
Sesshoumaru smirked. No one noticed that though. He walked to the room and the first person he saw was that girl from the bus. She looked kind of cute with her thoughtful expression.
"Say Sesshoumaru. Sit with us." He knew that voice. He hated Kagura. Every since he was in middle school she was trying to get with him. He will not lower himself to go with a wind witch.
"Why would I lower myself to sit with you, Kagura?" he iced. He walked to the direction of the miko and stood a few inches away. She just stared at him. He heard behind him a 'Fine!' shouted by Kagura.
He sat next to her and stared at her. She didn't say anything. She turned her head from him and he saw her get a note book out. He saw a pink ink pen in her hand. She was writing.
He looked over her shoulder to see her writing.
Her writing was exquisite and he couldn't stop reading:
He broke my heart, with those hurtful words.
I just wanted to be his friend.
She stopped writing and Sesshoumaru saw why.
"Is there a problem?" She didn't spat the words; just said it with a twist of venom.
Sesshoumaru said "What is your name?"
He saw the confused look on her face.
"K-Kagome. Yours?" she stuttered
"Sesshoumaru Taisho." he iced. He saw her flinch slightly by his tone.
"Where are you from?" he said softly. Said Kagome perked up and smiled.
"Tokyo. I like your name: The killing perfection." She said cheerfully.
Sesshoumaru felt better by her voice and face. He honestly didn't want her to be afraid of him.
"Tokyo? I was born and raised there myself. When it was called Japan only. What grade are you in?" He asked politely.
"Nine." she said. So. She's a freshman, eh? He was surprised she didn't jump on him for his looks and fame. He wanted to test her.
"I am in tenth grade. I am the richest demon in this school. Me, demon lord heir, of the West." he pronounced with pride.
"Wow, that's cool!" She said. He knew it. She's just another one after the fame and glory.
"Ummm. I'm not so rich but not poor either. My mother works at a Cheese Cake Factory." she said.
Sesshoumaru just stared at her. Strange. She did get happy but then she say something about herself.
"I would like to apologize for earlier. I was a bit...startled," he hesitated. It took a lot of forcing to get those words to come out his mouth. But he was a honorable demon, he had respect for himself. He never did things without reason. He studied her expression. He noticed her features softening as she placed on a shy smile.
"Thank you for that. I didn't mean to invade your personal space. I was just being curious," she said as he noticed her twiddling fingers touching one another. She seemed oblivious to this action by the way she stared at the ceiling. Interesting. She does this when she's nervous.
"No need. To answer you question. Yes, my markings are real. I am of the dog demon clan," he responded.
Sesshoumaru continued talking with her and found out a lot of things. He normally didn't care about anyones life, but her stories were intriguing. She didn't look at him like he was eye candy(which he is) but as a..friend. When he spoke, she looked directly in his eyes and laughed when he said something funny.
He liked her laugh. He liked her small human habits. He liked talking to her. He liked...her. She sort of reminded him of Rin.
Unbeknown to him, two pairs of eyes bare a hole through the the pair as they talk. He never noticed Naraku on the other side of the room.
-------------
Kagura watched with a snarl as her man converse with a miko wench.t She smelled her tart power as soon as she entered the room. She didn't know the bitch but disliking her was high on her list. She was placed there the moment she saw Sesshomaru diss her to sit with the little heifer. Not to mention, being a demon and all, she heard their conersations rather clearly. How the fuck did she get him to apologize to her? What made this bitch so special? A mere human. Kagura was too pissed
Kagura saw her laugh and growled. How dare that bitch. Why is Sesshoumaru acting so sweet with this girl? Did he bump his head? Did she put a spell on him with her vexig powers? Ugh, the agony of being in the room with those two.
Kagura suddenly got a good idea. She took her phone out and texted Naraku, her brother. This is going to be interesting, Kagura thought as she push the send button. She turned back to Ayame and started talking.
She couldn't wait to see the outcome. Poor miko. She loved playing this game. Soon, her man will take her as his mate. She will have no worries.
-------------
Naraku sat at the way back of the class, glaring at Sesshoumaru and the miko from the bus. He was sent to I.S.S. for bullying another student in the hallway. He didn't care. Nobody cared about the first day of school. He saw his friend come in and wondered what happened. Before he could shout for him, he saw hthe dismissal of his sister. He didn't really care about that. What he cared about was the fact that his friend walked toward the back. Masking his aura, he watched as Sesshomaru sat next to the miko. I didn't know that bitch was here, he realized in utter confusion. He listened to the converstation in disgust. His friend never apologized to anyone.
What was wrong with his friend? Did he take a liking to the miko bitch? Granted, she was cute and the words on her shirt where true. She seemed like every guys dream by the way she was laughing and talking with his friend.
Naraku wanted the human. Not as a girlfriend, but he wanted to fuck her. He didn't know how he would get her if she takes a liking to his best friend. His friendship was too strong. He needed to do something about this situation.
Naraku felt his phone vibrate and looked around. The teacher was outside talking to the principle. He took his phone out and read:
Say, Naraku. You see whose Sesshoumaru talking with?
That miko bitch is talking with what is mine!
How about we play a game? You know, for old time sakes.
Naraku read the rest of the message and closed his phone. He looked up at Kagura and flashed a grin, showing off his fangs. She grinned back and continued talking. This would be fun. He vowed to get his friend back.
