"Inuyasha!" a piercing cry came from the far end of a ruined field. A young woman in her tattered school uniform shot a spiritual arrow at one of Naraku's tentacles that impaled itself through Inuyasha's red clad form.
"Ka...gome...run..." he strained before crimson blood leaked from the side of his mouth. "No, I won't leave you!" Kagome pleaded.
The miko bound through the multiple piles of youkai corpse littered on the ground to get to Inuyasha's side.
She shot a few more spiritual arrows at oncoming hoards of demons in her way. Ever since Kagome fell through the well, she has improved her miko powers considerably for the past five years. Miroku taught Kagome how to hone and control her powers, which include spells and incantations to protect herself and kill demons. Kaede had taught her how to gather certain herbs to remedy the wounded. Sango had taught her how to fight in close combat so she would not always have to rely on her own powers to defend herself. With countless trips around villages to exorcise demons, Kagome has bettered herself so much that she does not need to rely on her friends for protection.
Kagome rushed to the mortally wounded Inuyasha, who is covered with numerous lacerations. She kneeled on the ground and gently lifted his upper body onto her lap. He was struggling to breathe with blood clogging his trachea. She immediately tried to heal Inuyasha's hole in the chest by compressing her hands and concentrating on transferring her powers to stop the bleeding to reform the tissues.
A thunderous pounding on his chest kept the blood flowing through his already blood stained haori, and a strangled gasp sounded from below her. "Inuyasha, don't talk. You're going to be alright," said Kagome. However, the blood just kept on pouring out.
Panic written across Kagome's face, Inuyasha tried to speak once again. "Ka...gome. I-I'm...sorry." Shortly after, his body convulsed and then ceased moving.
"Inuyasha? No...Inuyasha...wake up. You can't die! I need you!" Kagome shook her head as her cerulean eyes glossed over. At that moment, Naraku came charging at Kagome with more detached demons. Everything was engulfed in a bright warm light.

Leather boots paused in their trek at the edge of a cliff on a rocky terrain of a mountain in the West. Along came the sound of pattering feet running from behind. "Jaken -sama! Hurry up!" A young girl in a dusty checkered kimono hollered and waved to a wrinkly toad demon not far off. Jaken trudged along with the two-headed dragon in tow, mumbling incoherently about insufferable human beings. The tall graceful demon at the head of the group gazed at the vast amount of land before him, taking in the beautiful landscape and different scents with it. A sudden jolt of electricity sparked from within the demon. "Inuyasha." Sesshoumaru gazed to the Far East where a sudden bright flash of light emerged from the deep forest. Sesshoumaru, on one of his many patrols through the Western lands resolved to head towards the strange occurrence. "Rin. Come." He commanded. "Hai, Sesshoumaru-sama!"

Tear stained eyes slowly opened with dried tears crusted on the edges. Kagome blinked a few times in order to adjust to the strange sight around her. She tried to get up, but felt an oncoming headache and sat back down on the grassy ground. She waited for her clouded mind to clear. "Ugh, what happened?" she mumbled to herself. She scanned the area and found large marks on the ground that she knew very well. 'Wait. Kaze no Kizu? Inuyasha?' Then the rush of the events from the fight with Naraku flooded back into her mind. Kagome clasped her hands over her face and began to cry.
------------------------
[flashback] Kagome used the rest of her holy powers to kill Naraku in one shot. The bodies of the deceased including Inu-tachi and demons alike were purified into dust in the wind. Drained from exertion, Kagome collapsed to the ground.

After some time crying for the loss of her loved ones, Kagome decided the only place she can return to was Kaede's village. She wiped the last of her tears, stood up, and dusted off her grimy skirt. Along the forest, she was parting branches and passing through thickets until she noticed it was unusually quiet. There were no sounds of wild birds chirping or the hustling of rodents scavenging, just silence. She focused her energy, searching for any danger until she caught a few youki only meters away. She was surrounded.
A/N: This is my first fanfiction and chapter. I apologize that it's short. Hope you guys enjoyed it! (Even though it has chracters' deaths, sadness and stuff. Don't worry, there will be romance and other things as the story progresses.) I'm looking forward to any feedbacks/suggestions, but no flamers please. I appreciate it. Thank you for reading. <3
Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha.
