When I'm With You
My very first fanfiction ever attempted. I've done enough of simply reading them, so what the heck? Might as well try! Remember people, advice and not flames. Tell what you think of it, give me ideas, whateva pops in your head upon reading this, please share (:
Mental Note: Please don't mind mistakes.
Well... Here it goes.
Please no tomatoes.
No Booooooos. Just advice (: or YAYS!
That would work just fine.
CHAPTER ONE:
Sesshoumaru observed the group of teenagers before him, watching over each step and being sure to guide them when he saw that the step went wrong. His dance class has been progressing pretty well, considering the fact that he didn't really feel proud of it. He was, afterall, a demon dealing with humans. Oh, and another thing he might add? The slip of a girl named Kagome Higurashi who was the famous class slacker.
"Girl. If you wish to take dancing seriously, you would get up and start to practice."
Kagome looked up at the tall, handsome man towering over her. His long and unnatural silver hair seeming to shimmer beneath the setting sun's light. She sighed, knowing all along that Sesshoumaru would be the one and only to call her simply "Girl," and unintentionally had drifted back into thoughts; thinking about her dance teacher.
Sesshoumaru was truly becoming irritated with this girl. If anything, the only dedication this girl offered was trying to get on his bad side. Well, not that she hasn't already, He mentally noted. After approaching her, she never replied back, only looked at him, then looked away- staring in a blank and rather stupid manner. "Girl! Do not ignore me!"
She winced, totally forgetting that he was standing right next to her. "Oops," She muttered. "Uhm, yes Sesshoumaru-sensei?" She received an icy glare in return.
"I do not repeat myself at most times, but for stubborn and stupid ones like you, I guess I should. If you wish to take dancing seriously, you would get up and start to practice."
This irked Kagome to no end. Stubborn and Stupid? I mean, come ON! She knows he's her sensei, but that was going too far. However, considering the mood she was in (And who she was talking to), she decided to let the words slip- for now. Instead, she stood up and faced him, put her hands on her hips, and lifted her index finger and waved it at him. Kagome could only inwardly laugh at the man's raised eyebrow, but didn't comment on it. "I..."
Sesshoumaru raised his brow at her subconsciously, thinking how dumb the girl was. Then he inwardly laughed, seeing how she actually was going to backtalk this Sesshoumaru, and waited for it. "I... Will be using the restroom. If you please excuse me, I must empty my bladder." That was it. Kagome turned and walked out the door and into the hallway. He caught that laugh though. Damn that woman and her unique witted mind.
A smirk graced his lips.
Oh, yes, he would get her bad one of these days.

Ten minutes past, and Kagome came strolling in the door. She found everyone to be in pairs, boy and girl. "You're back, finally!" A Male voice called out. Kagome pinpointed it to be Kevin Yoshito, one of the best male dancers in the class- 'as well as the cutest,' she added. Upon walking up to him, she raised her hand and exchanged a high-five. "What's up, Kevin?" She casually said. Kagome smiled back when she received one of his smirks.
Ah, his smirks. It complimented his sharp features. Especially his eyes. This would usually stand out to Kagome the most upon meeting any man. His eyes were an amber color that faded to golden-brown. She was truly amazed that those weren't contacts, and didn't believe him for about three months. She didn't until forced to practice some moves with him during one assignment; a time when she took the opportunity to look into any man's eyes. She found it more attractive in performances to do so when she isn't too concentrated on a move that was complicated.
Quickly, she brushed her thoughts aside. Kevin still had that boyish smirk even when her thoughts were set to the side. Kagome waited for an answer, but didn't receive one. That irritated her. "What's UP, Kevin?" She repeated with emphasis and was confused soon after when all she got was a chuckle. "Kagome, you should stay out of you're thoughts when someone is explaining something. Then maybe, you just might hear what I just tried to explain."
Kagome blinked, realizing her mistake (Once again). "Oh. Sorry. Care to explain again? Haha!"
"Well, Sesshoumaru-Sensei told us to pick pairs for a new assignment. I ended up being the odd one out- with you. So we're pairs. He'll give us the assignment after class, we just need to pick it up." He stood up and looked at Kagome. "Got that? Or were you too busy thinking about me?" Kagome found that funny, and laughed. "Oh no, no, no! You? What's there to think about?" And starting with this one simple comment, the two began joking around, going into fits of laughter before Sessho-Almighty-Kick-Ass-Blah-Blah-Sensei interrupted and made them do stretches and steps.

It was after class already, and most of the class had already gone out the door with their assignments. Kagome and Kevin were the only one's left. They were seated on two chairs placed by the doorway putting their shoes on so they could leave. Well, Kevin, that is. Kagome sat there and just conversed with him. "I've always stayed after class to practice, ever since my second year of dancing. It was then I decided to take dancing seriously," She stated.
"Second year? Coincidence, me too. Actually, I never did until a performance I'd performed for Christmas. Y'know, I was never into the whole dancing thing, being a guy and all, but after that? The feeling was just great. Accomplishment and success, especially with something you work hard at to do. The funny thing was, it was the only thing my parents ever praised me on. Screw grades and high school teachers. They told me," Kevin stood at this point, and meet his amber eyes with her light brown. "That 'as long as you got that one passion that you fuel and try to protect even in the rain, you can make it a long way with it.'"
Kagome smiled at this. "It's enough to keep you warm and satisfied," She added on. "Yep, I totally know where you're going." Kevin's straight face returned that smile, not a boyish smirk. It radiated kindness and gratitude. "You got a heart, Kags... Oh, shit, it's already late. I've gotta go. Got a new job to rot my ass in." Kagome laughed, he chuckled, they exchanged goodbyes, and he dashed out the door.
Now, Kagome was alone again.
However, before proceeding to the boombox, she took a look around, making sure a certain someone wasn't there. She seemed to bump heads with him on more than one occasion when it came to the regular practices she did. A frown of disappointment came to her face seeing no one there. The way he danced with her kind up spiced up the day. She blushed at that thought, and sighed. Well, too bad! She was alone in this- this time.
She stood up and walked towards the boombox sitting on a small table next to Sesshoumaru's desk and pressed play, knowing that Sesshoumaru would've left at least some CD in there. The music piece was Debonair by Rileah Carinbine. "Nice," She muttered under her breath. It was perfect for the ballet style.
Kagome stepped into the middle of the wooden dancefloor and gazed into her own eyes in the reflection before her. She lifted her arms over head in a curve at the first gentle beat. 1, 2- lean. 1-stand-3. She went throughout the music peice in a soothing, repeating pattern. She made sure to glace at the mirror at times to make sure her posture was perfect, and as she relaxed more into her tranced state she usually found herself in when dancing, the elegance of her moves shined through on its own. A curtsy to the last remaining beats were what ended her solitary dance.
There were only more tracks like that that followed after. Again and again she'd dance with ballet style, and- since no one was watching- she'd add twists of hip hop and popping. It reached to the point where she wanted to go all out on a fast beat song. Actually, she paused. She then walked to the music player and found the CD cases on Sesshomaru's desk. "Salsa... Salsa... Foxtrot?" Kagome smiled. "Sounds good enough." She stepped to the dancefloor with one thing in mind.
"Having someone to dance with would make it more pleasurable. As well as a learning experience. You may catch your mistakes with much more ease that way."
Kagome dropped her stance in surprise, and turned to face the source of the voice. She found it to be Sesshoumaru standing next to the boombox, arms folded, and with a piercing golden gaze. Her eyes didn't falter upon meeting his, however, despite the intensity it held within them.
She merely smiled.
"You read my mind Sesshoumaru-sensei," She stated, never taking her gaze of his. "Care to join?" Sesshoumaru raised his brow yet again, and inwardly chuckled when he saw her brow twitch and heard her remark. "You know, that brow thing can become an irritating habit." Sesshoumaru's expression remained different, but this time one brow lowered, and the other one raised. "Oh, how so? It does not irritate me at all." He let himself smirk when he saw his student's expression become more aggravated, but he ignored it and simply pressed the replay button.
Kagome laughed after realizing that Sesshoumaru was making a joke. Her aggravated face turned to that of amusement as she eyed him walking towards her. "You got jokes, Sesshoumaru..." She didn't get the chance to add the formal suffix.
He quickly grabbed her hand and pulled her close with his arm wrapped around her waist. It was then that Kagome realized that he did this to hit the first beat as soon as it came. This was not very long after he did this, and before the 'Ba-dum-dump' came to her ears her body eased with his. When it came, she hit it. He hit it. And the rest followed.
She rocked her hips in rythym, flipped her hair out when she did sharp spins, and always kept counting in her head. The numbers soon turned into very audible beats in her head. Secretly, she'd wait for the spins, because it was a great opportunity to look into Sesshoumaru's eyes. And, to be honest, she liked it.
Sesshoumaru, couldn't read her mind, but he found it pleasureable to move in rythym with her body. He found it sensational how they both worked together. And, to top it all off, he never found anything that could be more arousing than to dance with Kagome Higurashi- his student. Yes, Sesshoumaru had meant arousing.
She was skilled, he knew that. Ever since the first day he stumbled upon her solitary practices that would sometimes last until late into the night. Although she exhibited no dedication during class time, he was sure she listened and took everything to mind.
When the song came to an end, he dipped her and for what seemed like the longest time, looked over her delicate features before positioning her back to a standing position.
Kagome flashed him a triumphant smile. "How about that, Sensei-sama?" She cockily asked. "No mistakes this time, right?"
Sesshoumaru scoffed. "Hm. You need to work on that spin of yours, it's far too sharp. You must concentrate on how elegant you look, not how showy or..." He immediately caught himself before saying the inappropriate word. 'Kinky.'
"Sessho-sama, I DON NOT try and show my body off while dancing. I only do these things to give it flavor. If a dance was only made of steps and spins and turns and complication yet no emotion or feeling, then the dance would be dead. Especially with foxtrot, I find it to be a song that is to be more..." Kagome stumbled when trying to find the right word. Sesshoumaru finished it for her, "Sexy?" Kagome nodded and raised her finger, "Yess-ehh.. Uh. No! Firey, Sessho-sama - firey." A crimson blush stained her cheeks and she crossed her arms over her chest.
Sesshoumaru raised his brow once again, and once again did he cause Kagome's brow to twitch. He loved getting this girl mad, it just added more spice to his day.
With this antic going on, he gained an idea. "Seemed sexy to me," He stated- pure and simple. With a straight face and everything. Kagome could only be stunned at this, her mouth opened slightly as well as her eyes, but she quickly regained composure knowing he was only trying to pull her strings.
"Pompus Jackass of a teacher," She growled out, before walking past him. Wait a second. Was this guy flirting with her? She looked back at an angry Sesshoumaru and it was then she caught her (yet again another) mistake. She just called him a jackass.
Oh well, He deserved it, she thought to herself. With that last thought and a shrug, she turned back around, picked up her bags and black flats next to the doorway, and walked leisurely out- leaving a very mad Sesshoumaru behind. Poor him, she didn't even have enough manners to leave a 'good-bye' behind.
Sesshoumaru looked on at her retreating form and how she walked comfortably away. The nerve of that woman, or girl - whatever. She's got some nerve.
But then again, she always had.
The thoughts and memories came streaming in. These thoughts and memories fixated on the past. Way back in the past, as far as 504 years...
Back in time to the feudal era, where he had first met with the wonder that was Kagome Higurashi. He let out a sad but frustrated sigh. "I will not reminisce," He quietly whispered. "Not until she remembers all of it." Sesshouamaru lifted his head just in time to see Kagome's form turn right at the very end of the hallway, making her not visible to his eye.
Upon seeing this, he tried not think in metaphors and gave a small prayer, things he never did, that she would remember.
